Our expert clinicians use a variety of evidence-based therapies to engage, motivate and support clients on their journey to recovery.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) – is used to assist in handling emotional dysregulation more effectively; it is targeted at deescalating the amygdala. During the client’s stay, they get the skills from all four DBT modules.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) – is used to allow the client to think more logically by challenging stuck points/unhealthy beliefs about the world, self and others that they have developed to make sense of their traumatic experiences and are thereby keeping them stuck.

Mind Body Bridging (MBB) – is used to bridge the gap between the emotional and logical by mapping and stimulating the Index System (I system). This allows for opportunities to slow the I system down naturally by learning to identify manufactured stories and requirements that cause hyper-arousal.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) – is an approach to psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities or families within each person’s mental system. These sub-personalities consist of wounded parts and painful emotions such as anger and shame. IFS focuses on healing the wounded parts and restoring mental balance and harmony by changing the dynamics that create discord among the sub-personalities and the Self.

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is an interactive technique used to work with the dysregulation of the nervous system and relieve psychological stress. This process uses bi-lateral stimulation, most commonly with the eyes, to unlock unprocessed trauma networks, thereby giving space and distance from traumatic material. This has proven to be an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). At Deer Hollow Recovery we have EMDR Trained Therapists that utilize EMDR during individual therapy sessions as well as during scheduled inpatient groups.

Group Therapy

This therapy is an opportunity for the client to better see themselves in the eyes of others. We help our clients understand how they interact with others and how their words and actions might affect them. In group therapy, all are equal and given a chance to gain insight into themselves through the group dynamics that naturally develop. Allowing our clients to relate to each other, to gain empathy and awareness, is a key facet of their recovery and a powerful, tool for change.

By participating in our unique formulary of clinical groups, we are able to help the client recognize unhealthy patterns, learn more effective coping skills, and give them the opportunity to practice these new approaches in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
