First Watch Wellness

Now more than ever, the First Responder community is under extreme duress as its men and women perform their duties under increasingly difficult circumstances. A hostile political environment coupled with a reduction in departmental resources has lowered morale and increased mental health concerns amongst the rank and file. The nature and pressures of the job manifest themselves in poor performance, shorter careers, unstable home environments, and employees suffering from PTSD and other forms of trauma and mental health issues. As a result, departments and agencies face acute retention and recruiting challenges that negatively impact budgets and hinder their ability to execute their duties.

Deer Hollow developed the First Watch Wellness program to address these concerns. First Watch works directly with departments to schedule regular wellness checkups for all employees and provide follow-up sessions to employees and family members as needed. All First Watch clinicians are culturally competent and know, understand, and respect the job.

Services are delivered via encrypted telehealth platform to protect privacy and maximize convenience. First Watch also provides critical training to employees and family members to help them recognize and manage the job’s inherent challenges, increase resiliency, and improve wellness.
